The Whitchurch Ensemble
The Whitchurch Ensemble comprising James Olsen (cello), Nicholas Brown (piano) and Steven Mingay (clarinet) entertained 77 people on August 27th when Changing Spaces held the fifth Lunchtime Concert in the 2019 season at St Andrew’s in Charmouth.
The ensemble delighted the audience with Beethoven’s Trio Op 11. despite being unfamiliar to most of those present. This was followed by more familiar pieces from the age of romance and elegance in the Palm Court tradition. These included ‘Stranger in Paradise’ from Kismet – music by Borodin and ‘Hungarian Dance’ by Brahms
The last Lunchtime Concert in the 2019 season will be held on 24th September at 12.30pm when Sophie Brewer will be giving a flute recital. As usual the concert will be preceded by refreshments provided at midday.
